Oats & Rice was founded in 2015 by designer Shiyi, following her studies at the Winchester School of Art in the UK. Driven by a deep curiosity for traditional textiles, she trained in Japan, studying kasuri (ikat) weaving and the rare shifu technique, made from finely cut and twisted washi paper threads. Her journey later led to Inner Mongolia, where the brand’s sustainable cashmere supply chain was envisioned. Oats & Rice blends cultural research, ancestral craftsmanship, and contemporary sensibility into timeless, poetic garments.
